FIFA wanted the 2025 Club World Cup to be historic — 32 teams, 63 matches, and the best of club football on a global stage. They secured a landmark $1 billion deal with DAZN to stream every match for free worldwide. On paper, it was a revolutionary step in accessibility. In practice, in the opening matches, the tournament has felt disjointed, undercooked, and worryingly inconsistent — both in the broadcast and in the atmosphere.
